Hornbeam Park: what to know before moving day
The site has a history that explains its layout. ICI had offices and laboratories here, where Crimplene was invented in the 1950s, and the fibre was named after the nearby Crimple Valley. Harrogate College moved onto the former ICI Fibres site in 1985 and now uses four buildings there. Around it are offices, a Nuffield Health fitness centre, a Travel Inn, a hospice and some small warehouses, so a delivery here is often to a named unit rather than a house number: tell us the building and where goods in is.
Residential streets close by include Hornbeam Crescent, South Drive, St James Drive, Park Edge and Warwick Crescent, with the Tewit Park and Oatlands housing next door. Hornbeam Park station opened in August 1992 on land given by ICI; both platforms are step-free, it is unstaffed, and two trains an hour run to Leeds and to York through Harrogate and Knaresborough. South of the station, the 31-arch Crimple Valley Viaduct carries the line towards Pannal.
How the van gets to Hornbeam Park
Hookstone Road is the only road into the park. From Bradford the A658 runs out past Leeds Bradford Airport and Pool to meet the A61 near Pannal; follow the A61 Leeds Road north towards the town, then turn off for Hookstone Road.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 40 to 50 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.
