Garnett Wharfe: what to know before moving day
OpenStreetMap records Garnett Wharfe as a redevelopment of the old Garnett paper mill and the land to its east, with 237 homes built between about 2012 and 2018. The streets are Garnetts Grove, Garnetts Court, Mill Way, Mill Walk, Riverside View and Riverside Square. Otley already had a paper mill among its mills by the mid-19th century, and part of the old works is still mapped by the weir, next to the Garnett Wharfe Hydro scheme.
Otley Weir sits right in front of the houses, and Wharfemeadows Park lines the opposite bank. The town centre, with Otley bus station and the market square, is a short walk, which makes it an easy place to be without a car, but it also means the van reaches you through town-centre streets.
How the van gets to Garnett Wharfe
The development is reached from Bridge Street (B6451) at the south end of Otley Bridge, along Mill Lane and Wharfeside to Mill Way. From Bradford the A6038 runs into Otley, and the town's streets lead down to the bridge. Otley Bridge itself dates from 1228 and was widened in 1776.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 30 to 40 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.
