East Hardwick: what to know before moving day
The village comes in three pieces. The Kennels are around Doncaster Road, Hundhill is a separate hamlet with Hundhill Hall, and the main village runs along Darrington Road, a small winding road that leads out to what locals call the Moor. The village has St Stephen's Church and a village hall, the map marks a war memorial, and Hundhill Hall Cricket Club is the nearest club to Pontefract.
Three buildings are listed: Grange Farmhouse, from the 17th century and partly rendered with pantile roofs; 9 Darrington Road, an 18th-century sandstone house of three storeys but only one bay wide; and the village pump, now in a wooden shelter. How the van gets to East Hardwick
The A639 cuts through the western side of the village as Hardwick Road and Doncaster Road, linking it with Pontefract to the north and the A1 and Doncaster to the south-east; it follows the line of the old Roman road. From Bradford the van comes along the M62 to Pontefract and then south on the A639. Darrington Road and Hundhill Lane lead off it.
