Bagley: what to know before moving day
What is left of the hamlet sits on the section of Bagley Lane between the A657 in Rodley and the junction with Coal Hill Lane. The name is on record from 1344 and probably meant a clearing with badgers. The former Bagley Baptist Church on Bagley Lane is a Grade II listed building, one of several old buildings that survive here.
Bagley Beck runs past on its way down to the River Aire and crosses the Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Rodley. Towards the Farsley end, OpenStreetMap marks the neighbourhood of Farsley Beck Bottom, with Beck Bottom Cottages and New Cote Cottages among the addresses. Bagley Lane itself is a two-lane road with pavements on both sides and 30 mph for most of its length, dropping to 20 mph at the Farsley end, so the van can usually pull in close; tell us if your house is set back up a private drive.
How the van gets to Bagley
From Bradford, come in on Bradford Road, the B6157, to Farsley and turn down Bagley Lane from the Farsley end. The other way is the Leeds outer ring road, the A6120, to Rodley, then along Rodley Lane and Town Street (the A657) to the bottom of Bagley Lane. Coal Hill Lane meets it part way up.
