Cheap rent here, campus over there
The rent gap is the whole reason this move happens. A shared through-terrace in Windhill or off Saltaire Road goes for noticeably less than a room in a purpose-built block, and Shipley's rail interchange puts Bradford and Leeds within easy reach on the Airedale and Wharfedale lines. What that means in practice is a lot of small jobs: one room out of a city let, into a terrace here, usually in September.
Saltaire is where it gets awkward. The model village is a World Heritage Site and a conservation area, so Titus Street, George Street and Ada Street are a tight stone grid with resident permits, no driveways and front doors opening straight onto the pavement. If your room is in one of those, we stop at the nearest legal spot and barrow it in. Tell us the street when you book and we'll know what we're dealing with.
What Shipley student removals usually involves
- Shipley is four miles from us, ten to twenty minutes up Canal Road, so short-notice student jobs here are easy to fit in
- Saltaire streets are resident-permit with no driveways, so loading usually means a barrow run from the nearest legal stop
- Windhill and Wrose sit up steep banks out of the Aire valley, which is slow going in a loaded long-wheelbase van
- The town centre has been reworked around the new Market Square, with a one-way loop and changed bays on Kirkgate and Crowgill Road
- Canal Road and the Saltaire roundabout queue at peak, so we aim for the middle of the day or an evening slot

What it costs
The price follows how much there is and how far it has to be barrowed from the van, not the short distance from Bradford. There's no travel surcharge for coming to Shipley from Bradford, and you get the price before we set off, not after. See how we quote for the full breakdown.
Frequently asked questions: student removals in Shipley
Are there student houses in Shipley?
There's no university campus here, but yes. Bradford and Leeds students rent shared terraces in Shipley, Windhill and Frizinghall because the rent is lower and the trains are quick. Shipley College sits inside Saltaire as well, so rooms around the village change hands steadily.
Can you park outside a house in Saltaire?
Not usually. The whole village is resident-permit with no driveways and doors straight onto the pavement, so we stop as close as the street legally allows and barrow your things the rest of the way. It adds a little time but avoids a ticket and a blocked street.
Can two of us share a van from the same house?
Yes, and it's the cheapest way to do it. If you're both leaving the same Shipley house for different addresses, we load everything in one go and drop off in turn. Send both postcodes and we'll work out the order and quote the whole run as one job.
