Womersley: what to know before moving day
In the mid-18th century the main street was moved to give Womersley Park, now a Grade II* listed house, more privacy. Today Main Street, Park Lane and Cow Lane are the streets near the middle, with closes such as Womersley Park Gardens, Low Farm Court and Northfield Close. St Martin's Church is Grade I listed, and the war memorial is in the village.
The railway still runs through the parish: Womersley station closed to passengers in 1948, but its large Swiss-cottage style station house stands next to the level crossing, and Grand Central trains between Bradford Interchange and London King's Cross use the line. Allow for the crossing if the van loads near it.
How the van gets to Womersley
Coming from Castleford or Bradford, the M62 is the fast road east. Once off it, Bank Wood Road, Northfield Lane and Churchfield Lane are the lanes around the village, and Main Street takes the van to the houses.
