Little Smeaton: what to know before moving day
The houses gather along Main Street, Water Lane and Mount Pleasant, with New Road heading out and Willowbridge Road and Stubbs Road leaving to the east. There is an art gallery in the village. The "little" in the name was added in the early 1300s to tell it apart from Kirk Smeaton.
Kirk Smeaton station was in fact on the east side of Willowbridge Road in Little Smeaton. It opened in 1885 on the Hull and Barnsley Railway, had a turntable because trains reversed there, lost its passenger service in 1932 and its goods in 1959. The brick station building is now a private house, and part of a platform survives. How the van gets to Little Smeaton
The M62 is the main road out of Bradford: from junction 33, the A1 heads south to Wentbridge, just upstream of Brockadale. In the village, Main Street and New Road are the way through, and Willowbridge Road and Stubbs Road lead east towards Walden Stubbs and the A19.
