Sandhills: what to know before moving day
In 2009 Leeds City Council extended the Thorner Conservation Area south to take in Sandhills, which keeps new building here limited. OpenStreetMap names Sandhills Farm, Miry Carr Farm, Thorner Lane Farm, Intake House and Bramley Grange Farm around it, with Thorner Bottoms Wood and the Mill Beck close by. Some houses are addressed to Lower Sandhills rather than Thorner Lane, so give the road as it appears on your post.
The parish line runs close by. LS14 3DN is in Thorner parish, but LS14 3DW, a few hundred metres away, falls in Barwick in Elmet and Scholes, so the full postcode matters more than the name. For a farmhouse or a house set back from the lane, say where a long van can pull in off the road.
How the van gets to Sandhills
Thorner Lane is the way in, running through Sandhills between Thorner and the A6120 East Leeds Orbital Route at Whinmoor, where the Skeltons Lane roundabout is. Lower Sandhills is the other road through. The Harrogate 7 bus between Leeds, Wetherby and Harrogate stops on Thorner Lane at Sandhills.
