Odsal: what to know before moving day
Odsal Stadium is the landmark nobody misses. It was built from 1933 in a former quarry that was being used as a council tip, and 140,000 cartloads of household waste were tipped under control to form its banking. It is the home ground of Bradford Bulls, and the Rooley Avenue end has turnstiles that back onto that road. Across the way stands the former Richard Dunn Sports Centre, built in 1974 to 1978 with a cable-stayed steel roof and now a Grade II listed building.
The homes around the stadium are a mix. Coll Place has rows of early 19th-century stone cottages, most of them Grade II listed, with mullioned windows and stone slate roofs. Newer streets such as Larch Hill, Belmont Avenue, Mayo Road, Sunny Bank Road and Hallbank Drive fill the land between Rooley Avenue and Mayo Avenue. Odsal Fire Station, the South Bradford Golf Course and the Morrisons on Mayo Avenue are all easy points to give the driver.
The amateur rugby league side Odsal Sedbergh plays on Cleckheaton Road, which runs south out of Odsal Top. If your move falls on a Bulls home game, say so when you book: Rooley Avenue has a bus layby and the stadium car park sits at the top of the West Stand, so it is worth agreeing where the van waits.
How the van gets to Odsal
Odsal Top is a meeting point of main roads. The A6036 comes in as Rooley Avenue and leaves as Halifax Road, the A641 runs through as Manchester Road towards the city and Huddersfield Road towards Low Moor, and the B6380 Odsal Road climbs west to Wibsey. A short way east, the Staygate roundabout joins the A6177 ring road to the end of the M606, which links to junction 26 of the M62.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 10 to 25 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

Odsal has its own ward name, so why does my postcode say Wyke ward?
Ward lines do not follow the old place names. A postcode by the stadium, BD6 1BS, is in Wyke ward, while the neighbouring Wibsey and Odsal ward takes in much of the rest of Odsal. Both are Bradford Council wards with no parish council.
Can the van reach houses on Coll Place?
Tell us the house number and send a photo of the front when you ask for a quote. Coll Place is a row of old stone cottages, so it helps to know where a 3.4m long van can wait while it loads.
