Knottingley: what to know before moving day

The A645 is the spine of the town, named Hill Top and then Weeland Road as it runs past Knottingley Town Hall and on east to Broomhill. The Aire and Calder Navigation lies just off it, with Canal Park, Jackson's Bridge and Gaggs Bridge on the map, and the shops and takeaways gather around Racca Green. St Botolph's Church on Chapel Street is a Grade II listed rebuild of about 1755, and the war memorial, a white granite pillar topped by a bronze angel, stands close to the Town Hall.

How the van gets to Knottingley

From Bradford the van takes the M606 to the M62 and stays on it east past Wakefield to junction 33, the Ferrybridge junction for the A1 and A162. Ferrybridge and Knottingley run into one another, and inside Knottingley the A645 carries the traffic as Hill Top and Weeland Road. Womersley Road and England Lane both leave it, England Lane crossing the railway at a level crossing.
