Drives, footpath rows and half-built streets: three kinds of WF11 move
A semi with its own drive is the straightforward case. The van backs onto the drive or stands across it, the load goes out through the front door, and beds and flat-pack wardrobes are taken apart in the rooms and rebuilt at the new address. On the southern estate it changes: Buttermere Walk, Thirlmere Place, Grasmere Road and Garsdale Walk are paved paths with front doors along them, so the van waits on Windermere Drive or Ennerdale Drive and every box travels the path on a sack truck.
The new-build streets bring a different problem. Oak Tree Crescent and Pear Tree Grove at Ranisbrough Park, and Shepherds Way at Jackson's Landing, are still being finished, with site traffic and plots without kerbs. Send the plot number, the developer's moving-in note and the time the keys are released. If the sale chain is running late, the van can be loaded first thing and wait for the call before setting off across town.
Before the van arrives at a Knottingley house
- Say whether your door faces a road, a drive or one of the footpath rows, so the carry distance is in the price
- On Hill Top or Weeland Road, name the side street or back lane where the van can stand off the A645
- Avoid the school run on Middle Lane, England Lane and Primrose Vale with a start after nine
- If you live on the weight-limited part of Cow Lane, say so and the van comes in from the open end
- Have the beds stripped and the wardrobes emptied, ready to come apart
- Ask Wakefield Council about a bay suspension if yellow lines run outside your new address
Knottingley streets and estates where a house move begins or ends
- Broomhillsemis around Broomhill Avenue and its closes, with drives to load from
- Windermere Drive and Ennerdale Drivethe road end of the footpath rows, where the van parks for the carry
- Ranisbrough Parknew-build plots off Simpson's Lane, timed to the key release
- Vale Head and Northfield Avenuefamily semis west and south of the town centre
- Chapel Street and Racca Greenthe older east end, where parked cars line the kerb by day
House move runs into and out of WF11
- Bradford → Knottingley28 miles on the M606, M62 and A645, 40 to 50 minutes
- Pontefract → Knottingleythe A645 east through Hill Top, a short hop for a move across the district
- Knottingley → SelbyWeeland Road east, then the A19 north over the county line
Bedrooms, the carry and the chain: what sets a WF11 house move price
The number of rooms, any long carry along a footpath row, stairs at either end and how long the chain may keep the van waiting decide the figure, which is fixed before the day and already covers the drive from Bradford. See how we quote for the full breakdown.
House Removals in Knottingley: your questions
My house is on one of the footpaths off Windermere Drive. Can you still move us?
Yes. The van parks on the nearest road and everything is wheeled or carried along the path. Tell us the house number so the walk is measured into the quote.
Will you take our beds apart?
Yes, dismantling beds and flat-pack wardrobes at the old house and rebuilding them at the new one is part of the job.
Can you move us on a Saturday?
Saturdays and Sundays are both open, between 8am and 8pm, and a weekend move misses the school traffic around De Lacy Academy and the primaries.
Will everything fit in one van?
The load space is 3.4m long, 1.3m wide and 1.7m high. Send photos of each room and you will be told plainly whether it is one trip, two, or a job for a bigger removals firm.
