Front door or back lane: loading a Hemsworth house
West Street is the clearest case. It has a back street on each side, one behind the odd numbers and one behind the even, so the first question is which door is easier. A yard gate onto the back lane can save a long carry round to the front, as long as the lane is clear of bins and cars on the day. Around Victoria Park, on Grove Avenue, Grove Terrace and Grove Place, the van draws up at the front and the load goes straight out of the door.
The newer closes are a different job. Grange Way, Springstone Avenue, Ridgestone Avenue and Valestone Avenue give room to stop outside, and the van reverses in while it is empty rather than after it is loaded. A two-bed house usually needs two trips in a van of 3.4m by 1.3m by 1.7m, and photos of each room settle that before the day. A move across town, say from West End to a new build at Kirkbygate, keeps both trips short.
Lanes, school runs and keys before a WF9 move
- Say whether the house has a usable back gate, and check the back lane for parked cars the night before
- Avoid loading near Highfield Road, Grove Terrace or Regent Street as the primary schools open and close
- Many Hemsworth addresses read Pontefract WF9, so send the street and full postcode for both ends
- Beds and wardrobes are dismantled on the day; keep the fixings bagged and taped to the frame
- Agree key collection with the agent or seller, since a two-trip move needs the new house open early

House Removals in Hemsworth: your questions
Can the van use the back lane on West Street?
Often, yes. Back West Street (Evens) and Back West Street (Odds) run behind the two sides, so if your yard has a gate the van can load from there. Send a photo of the lane so it can be checked before the day.
Will a three-bed Hemsworth house fit in one load?
Rarely. A one-bed or a lightly furnished two-bed goes in one load; a fuller house goes in two, which is fine for a move within Hemsworth or out to Wakefield or Barnsley.
Do you take apart beds and wardrobes?
Yes. Beds and flat-pack furniture are dismantled at the old house and rebuilt at the new one, as part of the move.
