Headingley: what to know before moving day
Headingley Stadium hosts England Test matches, Yorkshire cricket and Leeds Rhinos rugby league, and those fixtures bring a great many spectators into the area, so check the fixture list before fixing a date. Keep an eye on the Otley Run too: the fancy-dress pub crawl starts at Woodies in Far Headingley and ends at the Dry Dock near the city centre.
The housing follows the old land prices. Headingley Hill attracted affluent villas, while cheaper land on the enclosed Headingley Moor, after 1829, filled with smaller terraces around Moor Road and Cottage Road. Much of the housing near Kirkstall Lane is rented to students. In the centre, Headingley Central, once the Arndale Centre, has a small multi-storey car park, and North Lane has the library and Brett's fish restaurant. St Michael's Church, Grade II* listed, stands at Otley Road and St Michael's Road.
How the van gets to Headingley
The A660 is the spine, climbing from the city centre as Woodhouse Lane, Headingley Lane and then Otley Road. From Bradford, the van can come across on the A647 and the B6157, which runs as Kirkstall Lane and North Lane through Headingley. Headingley station is off Kirkstall Lane, halfway to Kirkstall.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 25 to 35 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

Headingley: questions before you book
Can I move on a Headingley Test match day?
It is best avoided. Test matches, county cricket and Rhinos games draw big crowds to the area around the ground. If your date is fixed, say so when you book and the route and timing are planned around it.
What is the difference between Headingley and Far Headingley?
Far Headingley is further out along Otley Road, with its own parish church, St Chad's, and the Cottage Road cinema. Headingley itself is the centre around North Lane and St Michael's. Both are LS6, so give the street.
