Burley: what to know before moving day
Most houses are Victorian red-brick terraces, a lot of them small back-to-backs, with through terraces among them. There are 20th-century semis around Burley Wood, pockets of council housing including a small estate of prefabricated concrete houses on Burley Road near the Yorkshire Television studios, and large student halls built along the lower part of Burley Road in the late 2000s. The oldest part is the Village Conservation Area, from The Village Street across to the railway, north of Burley Road; traces of the first village survive where Burley Road meets Haddon Road and around Burley Lodge. St Matthias' Church, built in 1854, is Grade II listed. The shops are on Kirkstall Road and Burley Hill, and the Cardigan Fields leisure park has a cinema, bowling and a supermarket. The canal and the Aire form the southern boundary.
How the van gets to Burley
Kirkstall Road, the A65, runs along the south of Burley between the city centre and Kirkstall, and Burley Road and Cardigan Road are the main roads up through the terraces. From Bradford, the A647 brings the van into west Leeds, and Burley sits just north of Armley across the river and canal.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 20 to 35 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

Why is Burley often just called LS4?
Because the Church of England parish of Burley has almost the same boundary as the LS4 postcode district, so the postcode works as shorthand for the area. LS4 also takes in a small part of Kirkstall parish, and Burley's edges spill into LS3 and LS6.
Which station is closest for Burley?
Burley Park, on the Harrogate line, opened in 1988, two minutes from Headingley by train. Parking there is limited to the surrounding streets.
