Great Horton: what to know before moving day
The Great Horton ward has 74 listed buildings, and a good number of them are close to the main road. The King's Arms dates from 1739, the former Old Bell Chapel from 1806, and a late 17th-century farmhouse at Knights Fold was later split into four cottages. Numbers 505 to 513 Great Horton Road are mid 18th-century cottages with shop fronts, and Perseverance Lane, Liversedge Row, Rudd Street and Suddards Fold all have rows from around 1800. Even a pair of K6 telephone kiosks near Saint Street is listed. These are small stone houses, so measure doors and stairs before a big item goes in.
Great Horton had a railway station on the Queensbury line from 1878 until passenger trains stopped in 1955. The site was later reused for shops, and Cannon Mills nearby became a shopping village. Great Horton Library, the cricket club, St John's church and the Bull's Head are good landmarks to give.
How the van gets to Great Horton
Great Horton Road, the A647, is the main road in from the city centre. At the Cross Lane traffic lights it meets the A6177 ring road, which comes up from Little Horton along Southfield Lane and Hudson Avenue and then shares Great Horton Road east towards Horton Grange. Beckside Road, which once crossed the railway on a bridge by the station, is another local route.

What is the difference between Great Horton and Little Horton?
They were the two halves of the old Manor of Horton, and Little Horton was simply the smaller. Today they are separate Bradford wards, with Great Horton to the west of the city along Great Horton Road and Little Horton on the slopes to the south-east of the centre.
My cottage opens straight onto Great Horton Road. How does loading work?
