Foulridge: what to know before moving day
The canal runs along the summit pound here and enters the Foulridge Tunnel, 1,630 yards long and opened in 1796, known locally as the Mile Tunnel. Near the northern portal stand the listed Canal Warehouse and Canal House, and the map shows Warehouse Lane and Cafe Cargo close by. The reservoir that feeds the canal is on the edge of the village; OpenStreetMap names it Lake Burwain.
The village centre gathers around Town Gate, Chapel Street and Station Road, with the Hare and Hounds, Foulridge Club and the church and primary school of St Michael and All Angels. The station closed in 1959 and its building was taken down and rebuilt at Ingrow West on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, and the old line is now a shared-use path. The oldest homes are stone farmhouses like Ball House of 1627 and Breeze House.
How the van gets to Foulridge
Skipton Road, the A56, passes the village between Colne and Earby, and the B6251, named Causeway and Whitemoor Road here, heads north-west towards Barnoldswick. From Bradford one way is the A629 to Skipton, the A59 west and the A56 south through Earby and Kelbrook; the other is to Colne on the A6068 and north on the A56.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 45 to 55 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

Was Foulridge ever on the Yorkshire border?
Lancashire, and it always has been. The old boundary with the West Riding was about 1.5 miles away until 1974, when Earby and Barnoldswick joined Pendle, and the old village sign that marked it is now fixed to the village hall.
