Emm Lane: what to know before moving day
Lister Park is the triangle between Keighley Road, North Park Road and Emm Lane, one of the city's largest parks, with Cartwright Hall art gallery, the boating lake and the Mughal Water Garden. The Keighley Road entrance has the listed Sir Titus Salt memorial of 1874 and a memorial gatehouse of 1883.
The lane itself has two big listed buildings. The former Yorkshire United Independent College, designed by Lockwood and Mawson and built between 1874 and 1877 in Gothic style, was later used by the University of Bradford until 2019 and is now part of the Heaton Mount estate, renamed Mustafa Mount, with the Rawdah Mosque. Heaton Mount itself is an 1864 house with a listed stable and coach house. Arts and Crafts houses of about 1907 to 1910, Grange Leigh and Greyholme, are nearby.
The residential streets are off the lane: Marriners Drive, Park Drive, Park Grove, Ferndale Grove and Rosse Field Park. Bradford Grammar School and Frizinghall station are a short walk north.
How the van gets to Emm Lane
From the city, take the A650 out through Manningham as far as Lister Park, then turn onto Emm Lane, which leaves Keighley Road along the edge of the park and runs west to meet Heaton Road and Highgate. Coming from the Canal Road side, Frizinghall Road joins Keighley Road close to the same junction.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 5 to 20 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

Is the university still on Emm Lane?
No. The University of Bradford used the old college building until 2019. In 2021 the 14-acre Heaton Mount estate was sold to the Greensville Trust, which renamed it Mustafa Mount, so ask the driver to look for that name rather than a university sign.
