Earby: what to know before moving day
The A56 bypasses the old centre as Skipton Road and Colne Road, and the town's own streets lie to the east: Water Street, Victoria Road, School Lane, Red Lion Street and New Road, with Earby Beck running through. What happened to the Earby station on the Colne to Skipton line?
Earby station, on the line between Colne and Skipton, closed in 1970, five years after the branch to Barnoldswick. Trains now go from Skipton or Colne, and buses from Earby run to Skipton, Preston, Barnoldswick and Burnley.
Why does Earby feel like Yorkshire if Lancashire runs it?
It lies within the historic West Riding and the town still celebrates its Yorkshire roots, but Lancashire County Council has run it since 1974 as part of Pendle. It even receives Yorkshire as well as North West television. The postcode district is BB18.
