Badsworth: what to know before moving day
All ten of the parish's listed buildings are in the village. St Mary's Church, of the 15th century with some Norman material, is Grade I, and its churchyard has 18th-century monuments to the Mason and Shillito families. The Old Rectory, possibly of 1731, the stables of the demolished Badsworth Hall, turned into homes in 1941, School House of 1826 and Kirkbank, a farmhouse of about 1700, are Grade II and now private houses.
The village streets are Main Street, New Road, Back Lane, Ninevah Lane and Grove Lane, with closes such as Huntsmans Way, Saddlers Grove, Badsworth Mews and High Farm Fold. Badsworth Church of England Junior and Infant School is on Main Street. If you are moving into one of the older sandstone houses, measure the doorways and the stairs before booking a large sofa or wardrobe.
How the van gets to Badsworth
Badsworth lies off the A638 Doncaster Road, which has a turn for the village between Upton and Ackworth Moor Top. The B6474 passes close by as Thorpe Lane and Beaconfield Road, and New Road and Main Street lead into the centre.
