The rail corridor on the Huddersfield to Leeds line brings bridges and the level crossings around Northorpe into the picture, and between those and the canal there are only so many ways to get from the north of the town to the south. A lot of the work here is short and local: off the valley floor and up to Battyeford, Upper Hopton or Roe Head. The reason is usually the water.
