Valley-floor shuttle or hillside drive-up

Valley-floor terraces around Newgate, Station Road and Easthorpe have no off-street parking, and all-day commuter parking spilling out of the station takes whatever is left. Loading those is a shuttle from wherever the van can stand, sometimes with a bay suspension arranged with Kirklees in advance. Every box on that walk has to hold its own weight and the one above it, which is why the heavy ones are kept small and the base is taped as well as the lid.

Plenty of local moves run from that valley floor up to Hopton, Battyeford or Roe Head, partly because the Calder has a history — it reached 5.4 metres at Ledgard Bridge in Storm Ciara and put Calder View, Back Station Road and Newgate under water.
