Top-floor weavers' rooms and estate drives: two kinds of HD9 house move
The older houses set the pace. Weavers' houses such as 23 and 25 Greens End Road, or the row at 55 to 61 Huddersfield Road, were built with the work on the upper floor, so the biggest bedroom can be at the top of a narrow, turning flight. Beds and flat-pack wardrobes come apart in the room and go back together at the new address, which is how most of them get down. Solid furniture is the thing to measure: a wardrobe that went up before the stair was altered may not come down whole.
Out on the estate roads the work is quicker. Coniston Road, Grasmere Road and Windermere Road, Thick Hollins Drive and Cheviot Avenue, or Sunny Heys Road to the north, are wide enough for the van to stand outside, and the carry is a short walk up a path. The planning there is about time: a move from one of those streets down to Huddersfield or across to Holmfirth is short enough to load and unload in one day, keys permitting.

Beds and flat-pack furniture are taken apart in the room, so they come down in pieces. Send the measurements of anything solid, like a chest of drawers or a wardrobe, against the narrowest turn of the stairs.
Can you move us at the weekend?
Yes. The van runs seven days a week, 8am to 8pm, so a Saturday or Sunday move is fine.
