Antiques on Wakefield Road and store furniture from Leeds
Old furniture is heavy and rarely flat-pack: a dresser, a wardrobe with a mirrored door, an oak table. From a shop on Wakefield Road the van loads at the door, and each piece is wrapped in blankets and strapped to the side of the load space so nothing shifts on the drive. Tell the shop what time the van is coming, as the A645 has one-way sections and the van needs somewhere to stop near the entrance.
From a big store, the van collects from the customer collection point and delivers straight to your room. Into a terrace near Station Lane, a long item comes through the front door and may need the legs or feet off; into a newer house at Wingreen Way or Larkspur Drive the turn at the top of the stairs is usually the tight spot. Existing beds and flat-pack can be taken apart and rebuilt as part of the job.
Measuring up before a piece comes to Featherstone
- Measure the front door, the hallway and any stair turn against the piece's largest dimension
- For antiques, ask the seller whether drawers and mirrors come off for travel
- Have the store order number and the collection time ready for the driver
- Clear a path from the door to the room where the piece is going
- If the item is longer than 3.4m, say so, as that is the length of the load floor

Furniture Delivery in Featherstone: your questions
Can you collect from an antiques shop on Wakefield Road?
Yes. Agree a time with the shop, and the piece is loaded at its door, wrapped and strapped for the short drive to your home.
Will you assemble new flat-pack furniture?
No. Taking apart and putting back together existing beds and flat-pack furniture is included, but building new flat-pack from the box is not offered.
What if the wardrobe will not go up the stairs?
That is why measurements come first. If a piece cannot pass the turn, you will know before booking, not on the landing.
Is the furniture insured while in the van?
Yes, goods in transit cover is £10,000, and public liability cover is £5 million.
