J31 estates at one end, Victorian terrace at the other

Wakefield Europort and the Normanton Industrial Estate put a very large amount of warehousing within a mile of the motorway, with Eurolink 31 on Mildred Sylvester Way, Photon Park on Harvard Way and Atlas Park on Ripley Drive alongside them. For a furniture collection that is good news: proper yards, proper doors and room to turn. The thing to plan around is shift changes, which back the A655 Wakefield Road up in both directions.

The houses are the opposite problem. Long rows of late-Victorian and Edwardian miners' terraces run off the High Street and the A655, unrestricted on-street parking, permanently full, parked both sides, and there is nothing behind the shop frontages on Market Square either. An early start is worth more than any amount of planning, and coning the kerb the night before genuinely helps.
