Wintersett: what to know before moving day
The hamlet sits where Wintersett Lane, Long Dam Lane and Haw Park Lane meet. The Anglers Retreat pub is on Wintersett Lane, and in 2013 the Wintersett Lakes caravan site opened behind it, near Anglers Country Park. Pear Tree Farmhouse, a 17th-century stone house extended in orange-red brick in the 18th century, is a listed building here.
OpenStreetMap shows only a few buildings, spread along the lanes, so give the house name as well as the postcode when you book. The Dearne Valley Railway and the Old Oaks to Nostell line once ran close by and are mapped as disused.
How the van gets to Wintersett
Ferry Top Lane runs between Ryhill and Wintersett, and Back Lane and Santingley Lane are the other named roads nearby. From Bradford the van travels via Wakefield and comes in on the lanes from the Ryhill side.
