Ulleskelf: what to know before moving day
The B1223 crosses the railway on the New Road bridge, with the station on its south side, and continues as Church Fenton Lane and Boggart Lane. Main Street, Church Street, Bell Lane, Smithy Lane and Ings Road are the village streets, and other roads include West Garth, Hallgarth Close, Marlborough Close, Barley Horn Road and Wheatdale Road. Station Cottages, the terrace on Main Street at the Church Fenton Lane junction, are left from the station's earlier layout and now stand about 200 metres north of it.
There is one pub, the Ulleskelf Arms, and one shop with the post office, and the map adds the Sunset Garage. The village hall was once St Saviour's church, and the Methodist church closed in 2024. Ulleskelf's four listed buildings are all houses. The Wharfe is tidal as far up as Ulleskelf, and the low meadows by the river are Ulleskelf Great Ings.

It survived the Beeching cuts in the 1960s because the road network here is poor, with no easy road bridge over the river for people travelling towards York. The station is unstaffed and Northern runs the trains.
