Shibden Head: what to know before moving day
47, 49 and 51 Shibden Head Lane began as a single 17th-century stone house with a gabled cross-wing and a quoined, chamfered doorway, later divided into three homes; it is Grade II listed. Folly Hall Farmhouse, also 17th century and much altered in the 19th, and Hazel Hurst House of 1724, part of a former hall with an open two-storey porch, are listed too and stand a short walk away.
The newer housing is in small closes off the lanes: Thorn Drive, Ambler Way, Pennine Close and Shibden View. Brewery Lane starts as a street and turns into a track, and Twist Wood Lane is a track all the way, so if your house is at the far end of either, send a photo of the surface and the turning space.
How the van gets to Shibden Head
Halifax Road, the A647, is the way in. Shibden Head Lane leaves it and joins Roper Lane, and Brewery Lane and Windy Bank Lane also meet the main road here. Windy Bank Lane carries on to Brow Lane for the Holdsworth side. The main road has a 30 mph limit, and loading from a side lane is usually simpler than stopping on the A647 itself.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 15 to 30 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.
