Ripleyville: what to know before moving day
Ripley Ville had 196 cottages, a school and a church, St Bartholomew's, laid out on Vere Street, Ripley Terrace and the streets between. The houses were demolished in 1970 and the site levelled for redevelopment, so almost nothing of the village is left. Linton Street, one of its original streets, is still on the map, and so is Mill Lane, where Ripley's gas works lit the village streets.
Today much of the land is commercial. Bowling Industrial Estate, Ladywell Mills and the Towngate Business Centre are here, trade counters such as Travis Perkins and Wolseley are mapped nearby, and the police's Bradford South headquarters is at Trafalgar House. Housing is on streets such as the Flockton roads, Brompton Avenue and Birk Lea Street, and the Guru Nanak Sikh temple on Usher Street is a landmark. Ripley Ville stood in the north of Broomfields, once one of the most densely populated parts of Bradford.
How the van gets to Ripleyville
The A650 Wakefield Road runs along the eastern side from the city centre, and the A641 Manchester Road is to the west. Between them, Mill Lane, Hall Lane, Bowling Back Lane and Prospect Street are the roads the van uses. For a trade unit, send the unit number and which door to load from.

Can I still see any of Ripley Ville?
Only a little. The vicarage and the ten almshouses Ripley built about half a mile away are still standing, and the Bowling Dyeworks Almshouses are Grade II listed. The terraces, school and church were all gone by 1970.

Yes. Trade and business runs on the estate are covered, with loading and unloading included. Tell the driver which unit, the goods, the drop-off address and the opening hours of both ends.
