Ravenscliffe: what to know before moving day
Ravenscliffe Avenue is the spine of the estate, and its centre is where the avenue meets Thackeray Road. The Gateway community and children's centre is on Thackeray Road, with Ravenscliffe Post Office on the avenue close by. Around them are streets such as Damon Avenue, Delius Avenue, Bowness Avenue, Falkland Road, Winslow Road and Langdale Road, and The Oval playing field is within the estate.
The land was mined before it was built on: there were numerous coal pits in what is now Ravenscliffe and Thorpe Edge. Ravenscliffe Wood and Round Wood lie to the south-east towards Pudsey, and Fagley Beck runs down the eastern side. Eccleshill railway station once stood off Harrogate Road near the end of Ravenscliffe Avenue, and the old Shipley branch line is now disused.
Along Harrogate Road are Eccleshill Swimming Pool, Eccleshill Sports and Social Club and Victoria Park sports ground, and Eccleshill Community Hospital is east of the playing fields.
How the van gets to Ravenscliffe
Harrogate Road, the A658, runs along the western side, and Ravenscliffe Avenue leaves it into the estate. Park Road, Fagley Lane and Pullan Avenue, the A6176, also join Harrogate Road nearby, and Fagley Lane leads to the streets on the Fagley side. Ravenscliffe is roughly 10 to 25 minutes from Bradford city centre; say which of the estate streets you are on.

Is the old Ravenscliff farmhouse on the estate?
No. The buildings that were Ravenscliff farmhouse, spelled without the final e, are to the south in Fagley. If you are moving to or from them, give the Fagley address and postcode rather than the estate name.
