Pellon: what to know before moving day
Pellon once had its own railway station. The Halifax High Level Railway opened in 1890 with stations at Pellon and St Paul's, but trams reached both by 1898 and the passenger service ended in 1917; goods trains ran until 1960. The trackbed is still traced on the map as the Halifax High Level Branch, passing to the north-east of New Pellon towards the Wheatley tunnel and viaduct.
Around New Pellon the streets include Sandbeds Road, Ryecroft Lane, Meadow Lane and Church Lane, most of them mapped at 20 mph, with Christ Church Pellon primary school and St Columba's Church on the south-east side and Broadwood School to the north-west. Albert Reservoir lies further south-east, and Doctor Hill and Wood Lane head off to the north-east. The Halifax article notes that the Dean Clough mill chimney can be seen from the lower parts of Pellon.
How the van gets to Pellon
Pellon Lane is the classic way up, climbing from the North Bridge side of the centre past the Pellon Lane retail park. Up top, Moor End Road runs through to the west and Long Lane to the north-east. From Bradford, the A647 comes down through Boothtown and Haley Hill to North Bridge, a short way east of where Pellon Lane begins.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 25 to 40 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

New Pellon is the name OpenStreetMap gives to the main part of Pellon around Sandbeds Road and Church Lane. For a booking they are the same district, in HX2; just give the street and postcode.
Is there still a station at Pellon?
No. Pellon station on the Halifax High Level Railway closed to passengers in 1917, and the line closed to goods in 1960. For trains, Halifax station in the town centre is the one to use.
