Marsh (Cleckheaton): what to know before moving day
Several of the terraces here carry their own names: Fairfield Terrace, Ashfield Terrace, Sunfield Terrace, Mayfield Terrace and Beechfield Terrace are all within a few dozen metres of the bus station, with Pyenot Hall Lane, Pyenot Avenue, Marsh Street, Neville Street, Mortimer Street and Woodhead Street nearby. The Marsh pub keeps the old name alive.
Cleckheaton bus station, rebuilt in 2005 with six stands, has entrances from Dewsbury Road and Greenside, so expect buses on both. Cleckheaton Health Centre, the Memorial Park, St Paul of the Cross church, the Central Methodist Church, the post office and the Royal Mail delivery office are all within about 200 metres, and the Spen Valley Greenway, on the old railway line, passes about 150 metres away. For a house on Greenside or Dewsbury Road, the van may need to stop in a side street; send the address and that is worked out before the day.
How the van gets to Marsh (Cleckheaton)
Dewsbury Road, the A638, passes the bus station, and in Cleckheaton it meets the A643 at a crossroads; Parkside and St Peg Lane carry the A643 near the Marsh. From Bradford the van follows the M606 to Chain Bar, where the A638 begins, and comes into town on Bradford Road. Northgate and Market Street lead on into the shopping streets.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 15 to 30 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.
