Kellington: what to know before moving day
The housing is a mix of old cottages, council houses and modern estates. On the map, many of the closes are Garths: Plough Garth, Hawthorn Garth, Manor Garth, Barrington Garth, Water Garth and Pick Haven Garth, with Bakersfield Drive, Tithe Barn Way and Marsh Lane Gardens alongside. Main Street, Low Road, Whales Lane, Eastfield Lane and Church Lane are the through roads.
St Edmund's Church dates from at least 1177, and its gate posts of 1698 are Grade II listed. The Red Lion is the pub, Kellington Manor is the hotel, and the primary school had 117 pupils in 2018. The village shop and post office have closed. Low ground between the village and the river floods the farmland, most recently in 2000. In 2008 an eco-town plan would have merged Kellington with Beal and Eggborough; Selby councillors turned it down.
How the van gets to Kellington
The village is close to both the A19 and the M62. From Bradford, the M62 east to junction 34 and the A19 bring the van to Eggborough. From there, Eggborough's Kellington Lane and Kellington's own Roall Lane, Broach Lane and Beal Lane are the lanes on the approach.
