Holmbridge: what to know before moving day
The Parish Church of St David, the village hall and the Pickled Pheasant, which the map still also lists under its old name, the Bridge Tavern, are the centre of the village. Holmbridge Cricket Club plays in the Huddersfield Cricket League. The River Holme runs through from Digley Reservoir, which Huddersfield Corporation finished in 1954 below the older Bilberry Reservoir; the collapse of Bilberry's embankment in 1852 flooded the valley down to Holmfirth.
Streets off the main road include Bank Top Lane, Yew Tree Lane, Kilnhouse Bank Lane, Fairfields Road and Roods Lane, with Brownhill Lane heading towards Holme. Hinchliffe Mill Junior and Infant School is just down the road. If your lane leaves the A6024 at a sharp angle, tell us, as a long van may be better waiting on the main road.
How the van gets to Holmbridge
From Bradford the drive runs round Huddersfield and up the Holme Valley on the A616 New Mill Road and the A6024 through Holmfirth. From the town, follow the A6024 Woodhead Road through Hinchliffe Mill into Holmbridge.

Yes, in effect. The A6024 over Holme Moss runs between Holmbridge to the north and Woodhead Reservoir to the south, and it is often the first road around here to be blocked by snow. Moves within the village come up the valley from Holmfirth, so they do not need the moor road.
