East Garforth: what to know before moving day
East Garforth station was opened by West Yorkshire Metro in May 1987, about half a mile from the older Garforth station, and has ramps from the road to both platforms. Around Bar Lane are White Rose Way, White Rose Avenue and White Rose Mead, Bar Mount, Montague Crescent and Meadow Road, with a short row of shops on Bar Lane itself and East Garforth Primary Academy nearby.
Off Aberford Road are the work sites: Newhold and Fusion Court open off it, the East Side Retail Park is beside them, and Lotherton Way is reached through Parkinson Approach. The Fly Line pub shares its name with the Aberford Railway, the private line locals called the fly line, which met the main line at Garforth and closed in 1924.
How the van gets to East Garforth
Aberford Road is the A642, which leaves Garforth for junction 47 of the M1, where the A656 also joins, so for East Garforth the van can come off at junction 47 and head straight into town. Bar Lane links Aberford Road with Ninelands Lane.
