Cross Gates: what to know before moving day

Manston Park, opened by the council in August 1925, has football pitches, a bowling green, tennis courts and a playground, and holds one of two memorials to the 35 women killed in the Barnbow munitions explosion of 5 December 1916; the other is on Cross Gates Road by the ring road roundabout. At that roundabout, three steel gate sculptures by John Thorp have marked the way in since 2009.
How the van gets to Cross Gates
Station Road is the main road through, part of the old Leeds Outer Ring Road and now numbered B6902, and the A64 York Road runs along the northern side. Cross Gates station, on the Selby Line 4.25 miles from Leeds, has ramps to both platforms from the street. From Bradford the van comes round by the M62 and the M1 to junction 46, then along the old ring road.
