Bradford Moor: what to know before moving day
Despite being close to the centre, Bradford Moor was built up relatively late, and the park is ringed by streets such as Silverhill Road, Thornhill Terrace, Roydstone Terrace, Grenfell Terrace, Warley Drive and Thornbury Crescent. Bradford Moor Park itself is the landmark to give the driver, with the Bradford Moor Crown Green Bowls Club beside it.
The corner of Leeds Old Road and Killinghall Road was once Bradford Moor Barracks, built in 1843 and 1844 after the Chartist riots and used for German prisoners of war in the First World War. By 1931 the barracks were out of use, and they were pulled down to make way for housing. Moor Park Drive and Moor Park Road are among the streets near that corner today.
Along Leeds Old Road, the Thornbury Centre combines a library, conference rooms and a church on the site of the old St Margaret's Church, and Woodhall Retail Park is a little further east.
How the van gets to Bradford Moor
Leeds Old Road, the B6381, runs through the middle of the ward on the direct line between Bradford and Leeds, passing right by the park. The A6177 Killinghall Road crosses it to the west and links north to Harrogate Road and south to Laisterdyke. The A647 Leeds Road runs parallel to the south, so there are two ways in if one is busy.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 10 to 20 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

What used to stand at the corner of Leeds Old Road and Killinghall Road?
Bradford Moor Barracks, from 1844 until after 1931. Soldiers from there were sent to the Bradford riots of 1891, and the site was later cleared for a housing scheme.
