Tyersal: what to know before moving day
Tyersal is split between two councils. The Bradford part, which joined the borough in 1882, is where the BD4 postcodes are; east Tyersal has been in the Pudsey ward of Leeds City Council since 1974. If you are moving across that line, check which council your new address comes under before you register for council tax.
The old core is Tyersal Hall, a late medieval house listed at Grade II*. Tyersal Road has a small parade of six shops, including a newsagent and a pharmacy, and Tyersal View, Tyersal Court and Tyersal Green branch off it. Tyersal Park Bowling Club plays in the Bradford Crown Green Bowling Association.
Lower down, around Dick Lane, the streets are newer closes such as Sutton Road, Sutton Crescent, Kyffin Place, Dennison Fold and Woolcombers Way, with the Sutton House extra care home on the map just north. How the van gets to Tyersal
Dick Lane is the road along the bottom of Tyersal and carries the hourly 508 bus between Leeds and Halifax. Tyersal Lane leaves Dick Lane and runs through the district to Cutler Heights Lane and Broad Lane, and Sutton Road also branches off Dick Lane. From Bradford the usual approach is along Dick Lane from the Thornbury side; the journey is roughly 10 to 25 minutes, depending on traffic.
