Aireville: what to know before moving day
Henry Allcock created Aireville Park in the 1830s as part of the Aireville estate, which later passed to the Dewhurst mill-owning family, and Skipton Urban Council bought it in 1945 for £15,000. Aireville Hall, the old manor house, is now part of The Skipton Academy and is Grade II listed, as is Aireville Lodge in the park. Craven Leisure centre, with its pools and gym, is also in the park, and Skipton parkrun uses the paths every Saturday morning, which is worth knowing if your move falls then.
Gargrave Road is the spine. The Skipton Academy and Craven College's Aireville Campus, opened in 1989, are both on it. Around them are residential streets such as Raikeswood Road, Greenfield Street in Rockwood, Park Wood Way, Hayton Way and Marina Crescent, with Sawley Street by the pitch and putt course, plus Engine Shed Lane and Airedale Mews.
