Littletown: what to know before moving day
The biggest change to Littletown came in the 1960s, when much of its centre was pulled down to widen the main road. The A638 now runs through as a dual carriageway, so it is no place to stop and load. Most homes are on the streets climbing away from it: Knowler Hill, which leads up to Liversedge Town Hall, Listing Lane and Listing Drive, Ings Road and Healds Avenue.
Littletown Junior, Infant and Nursery School and St Andrew's Methodist Church are both in the settlement, and the post office and Londis shop are handy points to name. Healds Hall, the Grade II house of 1764 that is now a hotel, is close by. The local football club, Littletown FC, plays its home games at Beck Lane in Heckmondwike, so do not be misled if you see the name there.
How the van gets to Littletown
Littletown is on the direct line from Bradford. The M606 leads to the Chain Bar roundabout, and the A638 from there runs through Cleckheaton as Dewsbury Road and crosses the River Spen at Rawfolds before the dual carriageway through Littletown. Leave it for Knowler Hill or Listing Lane rather than pulling in on the main road.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 20 to 30 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.
