Same-Day Courier in Heckmondwike

A stopped machine in the Spen Valley and the part it is waiting for

The urgent item may well be somewhere else. A supplier in Leeds, Bradford or Huddersfield has the part on the shelf, and the unit in Heckmondwike needs it fitted today. Give the supplier's address, the order reference and the name it is under, and the van collects it and heads straight back. Heavy or awkward things a parcel network turns down, like a motor, a roll of material or a length of steel, travel on a 3.4m floor.

Getting back into Heckmondwike is where time is won or lost. Off the M62 at Chain Bar and down through Cleckheaton is the usual way in, and the run into the centre slows when lorries are turning off Walkley Lane. Heckmondwike Grammar's start and finish times clog High Street, so a drop in the centre is quicker outside them. Name who will take the item at the drop, with a phone number, so the hand-over is quick.

Getting an urgent Heckmondwike job moving quickly

• Ring with the item, its rough size and weight, and the latest time it can arrive
• Warn the supplier the van is coming so the part is packed and waiting at the counter
• Name the person taking it in at the drop and give a phone number for them
• For a drop in the centre, avoid the Grammar School start and finish on High Street, when the approaches clog
• Going to a house off Westgate? The van stops in the street and the hand-over is at the front door, so say which end of the road you are
• Hazardous goods and anything that must stay chilled cannot go; otherwise up to 3.4m long and 1.7m high is fine
