Short bays, shared lifts and big lofts: why Doncaster packs early
Two kinds of Doncaster home make early packing pay. A flat over a shop near Market Place is loaded from a kerbside bay where the van cannot linger, and a flat high in Silverwood House or one of the other St James Street towers shares its lift with every neighbour on the floor. If the boxes are sealed, labelled and stacked by the door the evening before, the van can be filled in a few lift trips or one short stop.
The other is the bigger house. Bessacarr's 1960s and 1970s homes south of Bawtry Road, the larger properties around Park Drive in Sprotbrough and the newer estates in Armthorpe and Edenthorpe often hold a full kitchen, three or four bedrooms, a garage and a loft. The loft and garage are the surprise, and they should be in the photos when you ask for a price. Decide what is staying behind before packing day, because only things going to the new house are boxed.
What happens on a Doncaster packing day
- The cartons, wrapping paper, tape and hanging wardrobe boxes travel with the van, already costed in
- Crockery is paper-wrapped item by item and packed upright, which survives the drive down the A1 better
- Documents, house keys, medication and valuables go in your own bag, never a sealed carton
- In a St James Street tower, cartons are sized so a full trolley still fits the lift car in one trip
- Beds or wardrobes you can sleep without are dismantled that afternoon, fixings bagged and labelled

How many rooms there are, how much sits in the loft and garage and how much china needs wrapping decide the time, and the boxes and paper are inside the single fixed price. See how we quote for the full breakdown.
Packing Services in Doncaster: your questions
Could the driver pack only the kitchen and the fragile things?
Yes. You box the books, clothes and toys, and the driver wraps the crockery, glass, mirrors and pictures. Say which rooms when you ask for the price.
How long will a Bessacarr family house take to pack?
Usually the bulk of a day, longer if the loft or garage is full. Photos of each room, opened cupboards included, firm the estimate up.
Will you unpack at the new house too?
That is not part of a standard packing day. Mention it at booking and say how much you want unpacked, and you will know in advance if it can be added.
