Scholemoor: what to know before moving day
The cemetery is the biggest landmark, with Necropolis Road and Cemetery Road nearby. The residential streets include Scholemoor Avenue, Scholemoor Lane, Scholemoor Road, Dracup Avenue and Reynolds Avenue, with the Scholemoor Community Centre and the Scholemoor Recreation Ground close by. Brackenhill Park, Brackenhill Primary School and Dixons Kings Academy are other easy points to give.
There are older buildings too. A row of three sandstone cottages at 17 to 21 Clayton Road dates from about 1830, and on Hollingwood Lane, numbers 106 to 118 are a row from the 1820s stepped up the hill. A former chapel, later the Grattan sports and social club, is also listed. For shopping trips and furniture pickups, the Tesco Extra, the Aldi and Quora Retail Park are all mapped within the area.
How the van gets to Scholemoor
Beckside Road, Legrams Lane, Cemetery Road and Clayton Road are the main local roads, and Clayton Road leads on towards Clayton. The A6177 ring road passes to the east along Horton Grange Road, and Great Horton Road, the A647, is the main road from the city centre to this side of Bradford.
