Lister Hills: what to know before moving day
The campus sits either side of Richmond Road. The Richmond Building, begun in 1963, is the largest on site, with the Horton and Chesham buildings on the opposite side of the road and the J B Priestley Library nearby. Student housing has changed a lot: the halls on Laisteridge Lane were sold in 2005, those on Longside Lane were demolished in 2009, and The Green student village opened in 2011. If you are moving in or out of halls, check the hall's own rules on where vehicles can stop.
Older buildings survive close by. On Preston Street and St Andrew's Villas, a group of former back-to-back houses from the 1870s, with crow-stepped gables, is Grade II listed. Legrams Mill of 1871, designed by Lockwood and Mawson and later Harold Laycock Mills, and Try Mills of 1865 are reminders of the textile trade, and the Old Building of Bradford College, from about 1880, has a central tower.
How the van gets to Lister Hills
Great Horton Road is the main way in from the city centre, and Richmond Road and Longside Lane serve the campus. Listerhills Road and Shearbridge Road cross the district, and the B6145 Thornton Road lies to the north. The A6177 ring road is a short way west at Horton Grange Road and Ingleby Road.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 5 to 20 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.
