Hunsworth: what to know before moving day
The Savile Arms on Hunsworth Lane is an early 18th-century stone pub, listed Grade II. Westroyd Farmhouse close by is 17th century, with a gabled cross-wing. At Mazebrook, a large L-shaped farmhouse dates from 1654 and there is a short row of early 19th-century cottages, and the barn at Hunsworth Lodge has a timber-framed core later cased in stone. If you are moving into one of these, measure the doors and the stair before booking large pieces.
Most homes are on the roads leading off Hunsworth Lane: Westroyd Avenue, Savile Park Road, Mill Lane, Greenroyd Avenue, Plane Trees Close, Oak Rise, Green Lane and the Kilroyd and Mazebrook streets. Hunsworth Park, the community centre and the 11th Spen Valley Scout hut are all nearby. The village joined the old Spenborough Urban District in 1937, together with Birkenshaw and Hartshead.
How the van gets to Hunsworth
Hunsworth Lane is the way in. It leaves Bradford Road at Moorend as the B6121 and runs north-east through the village, with Drub Lane branching off towards Drub. From Bradford the M606 reaches the M62 at Chain Bar, junction 26, which is a short distance away; the A58 Whitehall Road West runs along the northern side of the village, and the M62 passes close by.
