Belle Vue: what to know before moving day
Belle Vue was an outlying village before Wakefield absorbed it. The streets off Doncaster Road include Oxford Street, Regent Street, Round Street, Arthur Street, Wesley Street, Welbeck Street, Claremont Street, Harvey Street, Elm Tree Street and Denmark Street. Rugby history is in the street plan: Trinity once played on a ground behind the Alexandra Hotel near Elm Street, and St Catherine's Road stops at the turnstiles of the present ground, which the club leased in 1892.
The stadium, sponsored as the DIY Kitchens Stadium, is the obvious landmark. St Catherine's Church and Centre, the Belle Vue Conservative Club, Madina Masjid and Masjid Zakariya are also on the map, and the Agbrigg and Belle Vue Community Centre on Montague Street serves both suburbs. How the van gets to Belle Vue
Doncaster Road, the A638, is the spine: it runs out of the city past the ground towards Heath, with Agbrigg Road (B6389) turning off it. From Bradford the van comes into Wakefield by the A650 or the M1, then takes the A638 south-east across the Calder. Neil Fox Way (A6194), the eastern relief road opened in 2017, joins the A638 near Heath Common.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 35 to 45 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.
