Concierge desks, lift bookings and loading bays on the Quays
The Quays towers are tall: Imperial Point has 16 storeys, Sovereign Point 20, the three NV Buildings on Pier 9 18 each, and The Heart and NumberOne at MediaCityUK 22. Many have a concierge desk, and some ask for a move to be booked with them in advance. The car parks round them are multi-storeys a 2.5m van cannot enter, so the van stops at the building's bay or on the street.
The Quays also has a residents' permit scheme, and Merchants Quay has its own, so ask the managing agent which bay or road the van should use. In the older blocks in Pendleton and Kersal, measure the lift; a sofa that will not stand on end in it goes down the stairs, which takes longer. In a Higher Broughton conversion there may be no lift at all, and the floor and stair width are what matter.
Booking the lift and the bay: a Salford flat checklist
- Book the goods lift or a moving slot with the concierge or managing agent if the building asks
- Ask which entrance removals use; at many Quays blocks it is a service door, not the front lobby
- Measure the sofa against the lift car, and if it will not fit, say so when asking for a price
- Leave a fob with the driver for the day so doors are not held open by hand
- Where the van must wait on a restricted street, the council can suspend a space for £15 a day

Floors, lifts and the walk to the van: Salford flat pricing
How much is going, the floor and whether the lift takes the big pieces, the walk from the bay to the van and the miles to the new flat set the figure. It is agreed before the van leaves Bradford. See how we quote for the full breakdown.
Flat Removals in Salford: your questions
Do I need to book the lift for a Salford Quays flat move?
Usually, yes. Most Quays and MediaCityUK towers ask residents to book the goods lift or a removal slot through the concierge or managing agent, so check before choosing the day.
Can the van use the car park under my building?
Rarely. The van is about 2.5m tall, too high for most multi-storey and underground car parks, so it loads at the building's bay or a legal space on the street.
Is a studio flat worth a whole van?
Yes, if that is what you need. A studio's price follows the load and the floors, not the size of the van, so a small flat is priced as a small job.
