Flats on the Oldham tram streets and further out

Metrolink trams run on the street through Union Street and past the King Street, Central and Mumps stops, and a van cannot wait on the rails. A flat above a shop in the town centre is loaded from the nearest side street or a pay and display car park, such as Prince Street at the bottom of Yorkshire Street, and the boxes go the rest of the way on the trolley. Tell us which floor and whether the stairs are shared.

Flats away from the centre are about the lift and the bins. Ask the managing agent whether the lift can be held for a while and where a van may park, and send a photo of the entrance. A one-bedroom flat fits in the long wheelbase Transit with room to spare, so the time goes on the stairs. A move from Oldham into a Manchester flat is about 8 miles by the A62.

Before an Oldham flat move

Ask the landlord or agent about lift bookings and where a van may stop outside the block
Above a shop on a tram street? Say which side street is nearest, as the van cannot stop on the tracks
Check town-centre car parks for a height barrier; the van is about 2.5m tall and will not fit under 2.1m
Pack small, heavy boxes for a stair carry, so each one is safe to take down a flight
Leave keys and the meter readings sorted for the inventory check
