Whitechapel: what to know before moving day
Cleckheaton's own history records a chapel of ease known as the White Chapel, later written Whitechapel, and the district kept the name. The church standing now dates from 1821 and was restored by William Henry Howorth in 1887-88. It is Grade II listed, with a small polygonal bellcote and short spire at the west end, so it makes a clear marker to give the driver. Whitechapel Church of England Primary School is right beside it.
The homes near the church sit on closes leading off Whitechapel Road and Turnsteads Avenue: Turnsteads Drive, Crescent, Close and Mount, Honeybee Court, Leafcutter Way, Carder Court and Church View. A little further south is a cluster of roads all called Kenmore (Road, Drive, Grove, Crescent and more), which is easy to mix up on a phone map, so check the full name when you book. Turnsteads Community Centre and Whitcliffe Mount School are both within a few hundred metres.
How the van gets to Whitechapel
The M606 runs south from the Bradford ring road at Staygate to junction 26 of the M62, the Chain Bar interchange, on the northern edge of Cleckheaton. From there the van drops into town and follows the B6120, which runs through this corner as Whitechapel Road, Turnsteads Avenue and Whitcliffe Road. Bradford Road, the A638, is the main road through Cleckheaton a short way to the east.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 15 to 30 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.
