Purlwell: what to know before moving day
Purlwell Lane is the spine of the district, and most of the streets off it are short terraced rows: Oxford Street, Banks Street, Belvedere Road, Hartington Street and Beaumont Street among them. Many rows have a named back street behind them, such as Back Purlwell Lane, Back Beaumont Street and Back Snowdon Street. If yours does, say whether the back door is the easier way in, because a sofa carried through a back yard avoids the front step and the cars parked out front.
Purlwell Infant School, on the lane, is a Grade II listed stone building of 1873 to 1874 with a square bell tower and a saddleback roof, and it still teaches as Purlwell Infant and Nursery School. Hyrstmount Junior School is a short way off, and Hyrstlands Park and Purlwell Hall Road mark the edge of the district. Batley Cricket Club's ground and the Mount Pleasant rugby league stadium are within about 300 metres, with the Fox's Biscuits works beside them.
How the van gets to Purlwell
From Bradford the M606 joins the M62 at Chain Bar, junction 26, and the van carries on east to junction 27, the Birstall junction with the retail parks beside it. From Birstall, Bradford Road (the A652) runs down through Carlinghow into Batley. Once in town, Purlwell Lane is the through road to give the driver rather than the back streets, and the B6123, Healey Lane and Mayman Lane, runs close by.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 25 to 35 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

They sit side by side in the Batley East ward and share the WF17 postcode district; OpenStreetMap marks Mount Pleasant as a neighbourhood about 200 metres from Purlwell Lane. For the move it makes no difference: give the full address and postcode and the van is routed to the door.
Can the van load from the back street instead of the front?
Sometimes that is the better option, but it depends on the width of the back street and on any gates or bollards. Send a photo of both sides when you ask for a price, and the choice is made before the day rather than on it.
