Fairweather Green: what to know before moving day
Two roads with nearly the same name meet here, which is the first thing to get right on a booking. Thornton Road is the B6145 main road; Thornton Old Road runs just beside it and serves Munby Street, Fairweather Mews and Gilynda Close. An address on the wrong one sends the van to the wrong turning.
North of the main road, Vine Terrace West and Vine Terrace East run from Thornton Road to Shuttleworth Lane, and Shuttleworth Lane in turn links Olive Grove, Ings Way, Templar's Way and Bull Royd Lane. St Saviour's church is about 200 metres north of the Thornton Road junction, and Bullroyd Allotments lie further north-east. Chellow Dean Beck, the stream that runs through the Chellow Dene valley and its reservoirs, passes close by.
Crossley Hall Primary School stands right on Thornton Road here, and the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue station called Fairweather Green is a little further west on the same road, both easy to point out on the phone.
How the van gets to Fairweather Green
Thornton Road, the B6145, brings the van straight out from the city centre past Four Lane Ends. Vine Terrace West leaves Thornton Road for Shuttleworth Lane, and Bull Royd Lane joins Shuttleworth Lane to Allerton Road for anyone coming from the Allerton side. Thornton Old Road peels off the main road for Munby Street and Gilynda Close.
